Abstract
The aim of
our study is to establish the validity of scale SED-PCI (Development
Evaluation Scale for Infantile Cerebral Palsy) for measuring and
quantification of motor development in children with cerebral palsy. We
describe the process to verify the items of scale to evaluate child's
motor behaviour and performance. The scale desires to be a specific
observational instrument with practical application on Romanian
particularities of CP case. We used to demonstrate the validity of
SED-PCI a comparative research with GMFM and GMFCS scales on 75
cerebral palsied children. The findings showed us a proper correlation
with the mentioned scales which means that our scale is a useful
instrument to describe the development for this type of pathology at
different years of age. This instrument adapt easily to evaluation
program’s needs, that are culturally sensitive in a particular
region and ethnic group, and is intended to be useful in
community-based programs which usually have limited resources and
depend on the efforts of parents and personnel who have little formal
or specialized training.
