Abstract

The indirect method Astrand and Ryhming has been used to assess VO2 max/min. VO2 Kg b.w and VO22 max increased unsignificantly;- in the PS, when the subjects were submitted to intense training, all three parameters reveal after NAC a good physical condition; maximal heart rate on a group of 12 soccer players, from a team of second league, before and after administration of the antioxidant N-Acetyl-cysteine (NAC) as well during the transitory period (TP) of physical training as in the precompetitional stage (PS).The results allow following conclusions:- during the TP, when the athletes are still untrained, the level of the mentioned parameters shows before NAC a poor aerobic exercise performance;- after administration of NAC the VO
-the very significant higher levels of the parameters found after NAC during the PS, suggest that the effect of this antioxidant substance are beneficial only for a well trained organism and could be an index of the level of physical fitness.
