Abstract

Rehabilitation after athletes’acute musculoskeletal injuries is one of the top priorities of sports medicine. The data about the basic tissular response to injury and the experimental studies suggested that the use of a short period of immobilization followed by controlled and progressive mobilization seems to be superior to prolonged immobilization. These data were confronted with the data gathered from clinical trials which confirmed the hypothesis above. This paper intends to make a short review of the literature concerning this aspect of the medical practice.

Key words:

rehabilitation, mobilization, sports
